More About us

  • Who we are

The Chalmers Center equips the church with poverty alleviation tools that point the poor to the healing work of Jesus Christ. By researching, field-testing, and training the church in practical ways to walk with the poor, the Chalmers Center supports spiritual and economic transformation in low-income communities. Apostle and Mrs. J. K. Antwi are Certified Chalmers Center Lead Trainers ministering in Ghana.

  • What we do

The Restore Savings Group Programme (RSGP) is one that trains churches to be agents of reconciliation among the poor. Through the RSGP the poor are holistically empowered with spiritual, social and financial tools for transformation. One important difference between this programme and other poverty alleviation programmes is that this one does NOT CREATE DEPENDENCY. In other words, it doesn’t create a situation where church members are constantly looking up to someone somewhere to give them money.

  • How it works

The RSGP was originally created to bring together discipleship and financial education. It supports the promotion of savings groups as a ministry of the local church. It is intended to be used by organizations who desire to help local churches disciple the poor. By establishing savings groups, churches can create access to lump sums of money for members to address their material needs. Our primary aim is that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, individual lives, households, and communities will be transformed. Successful programmes are already in place in parts of Greater Accra and Volta Regions.

  • Key benefits of RSGP

    • It operates as a ministry of the church.
    • It requires no capital injection, but has been known to be effective in many parts of Africa and Ghana.
    • It reaches the poorest of the poor.
    • It provides holistic discipleship.
    • It helps build trust within both the church and the external community.
The RSGP therefore equips the local church for word and deed ministry. By using the assets of the local church and the poor themselves, the programme restores the poor to dignity. It could also be used as a tool for evangelism

  • Church Facilitators

Because of how vulnerable and relatively poor women are, the programme aims at benefiting women as much as possible. However, men can benefit equally because we all could do with a little more money!

  • Restore Savings Groups Programme in Ghana

In Ghana, we normally offer two four-day programmes to train church facilitators at a place chosen by our of host churches; usually their own premises. Other workable schedules for training could be arranged. After the first training session, participants are given assignments to start savings groups and report back. The second training session takes place when participants from the first session have completed their assignments and taken care of the savings groups they started for some time; usually after 2 – 3 months. Partner churches and trainees must commit themselves to cooperating with us for the follow-up monitoring that comes after the training. For effective training we must have 12 – 30 participants who must commit to going through the entire training with us and then go to start savings groups after the training. Every part of the training is very important and therefore absenteeism cannot be encouraged. Additional training is available to make trained Church Facilitators, licensed Lead Trainers so that their churches can continue to train their own facilitators, of course with some assistance from us.
NB:Even though trainees pay for the training it is very affordable
